Happy Tooth Dental Health Printable Activity Pack
February is Children’s Dental Health Month and the perfect time to focus on teaching your kiddos about good dental habits and maintaining healthy smiles. To help make learning fun, we've put together this printable activity pack—a super helpful and engaging resource for parents and teachers.
Why is dental health so important for kids?
Dental health and overall health are directly and intricately linked. Poor oral care can lead to many other (and more serious) issues, like pain, illness, and more. Did you know that tooth decay is the most prevalent chronic illness for kids and the top reason kids miss school?
How can I make my kids' teeth healthy?
The key to maintaining healthy teeth is teaching good habits as early as possible. Habits like brushing, flossing, regular dental visits, and a balanced diet are the key to oral care.
How do you explain oral health to a child?
The best way to explain oral health to kiddos is to make it fun (that's where we come in)! We've put together a printable activity pack that covers these important topics:
- How to brush and floss your teeth
- How often to brush
- What happens at the dentist
- Healthy and unhealthy food for teeth
How to use the Happy Tooth Dental Health Printable Activity Pack
For each activity in the pack, you will see instructions for use. Here is a breakdown of each activity:
Brush My Teeth: Laminate the page or put it in a sheet protector. Use a dry erase marker to color on the teeth, representing plaque, food, etc. Let kids use an old toothbrush to clean the teeth.
Flossing Practice: Cut along the dotted lines. Let kids practice flossing around the teeth.
Brush 2x a Day: Laminate the page or put it in a sheet protector. Let kids use a dry erase marker to note every time they brush.
What Happens at the Dentist? Coloring Book: Let kids color the pages. Cut along the dotted lines and arrange pages in order. Attach the pages together with staples.
Chattertooth Checkup: Follow the instructions to build the chattertooth. Cut out the tools. Let kids give the chattertooth a dental checkup.
How to Brush Your Teeth Guide: Print and display where kids brush their teeth to remind them of important steps.
Teeth Have Feelings, Too: Cut out the food squares. Let kids sort foods into Happy Teeth (healthy foods) and Sad Teeth (unhealthy foods).
Brush Your Teeth Coloring Page/Print: Use the black and white version as a coloring page. Display the colored version as wall art in your bathroom.
